I HAVE BEEN HAVING SOME TROUBLE WITH WIN AMP, WHICH RESULTED IN ME NEEDING TO REFORMATT MY HARDDRIVE. i GOT WINDOWS UP AND RUNNING AND WANTED TO LISTEN TO SOME OGG FILES THAT ANDRE LOUIS HAD PUT UP ON HIS SITE. i WASN'T ABOUT TO DOWNLOAD WINAMP AGAIN. i WENT ON THE PROWL, LOOKING FOR A PLUG IN FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. iF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU CAN GET IT, THEN HERE IS THE WEB ADRESS. WWW.ILLIMINABLE.COM/OGG gO CHECK IT OUT and let me know what you think..
Winamp has never given me any trouble, I use FooBar 2000 for my audio player though, most of the time, it handles ogg. I like ogg bettter than mp3 apart from the portability of the format.
Yes I can only imagine that if you were previously having problems with Winamp that it was most likely due to something else wrong in Windows. As you have now done a format you should be fine. I've never heard of anybody else before having major problems with Winamp.
winamp causing enough problems to reformat a hard drive? not likely. must have been something else.
I agree, I don't particularly care for winamp, but it usually doesn't cause enough problems to cause you to have to format your drive.
Thing is, I tried downloading winamp again the same day, but it kept making my pc randumly restart, and then an erra measage kame up saying that windows had incountered an erra. I uninstalled winamp and it never happened again. So I am guessing that it was winamp. I don't actually know if this plug in works, but I am just off to try it out now. So if it works or not, just wait for my next poast.
OK, guys, it works. You have to silectwindows media player from the open with thinggy, but other than that, it works fine. Doubt you can use things like audio dsb things with it though.
Whitch version of winamp were you downloading.
Trying a different version might help.
I have encountered someone who had winamp and whenever they would download something of the internet, it wouldn't let them open or save the file. We tried practically everything that I could think of but nothing worked, so they had to resort to real player. Personally I think winamp is the best player, and ogg files are better then mp3's.
I love winamp. Maybe you are just running to a corupted file.
Troy
I was using the most resant version of winamp that was on the site at the time. It think it was 5.2. No the files werent kerupted, they played everywhere else just fine, and didn't stammer and cause the bloody computer to reboot.
Was it a warez'd copy? Meaning did you pay for it? Unless you kno where to go, most programs have viruses in them, which is why you should never download cracks or anything like that.
Im not acusing you of anything, but... winamp making you format your hdd?
BEN.
You don't have to pay for winamp do you? I just went to www.winamp.com and downloaded it.
i think you got a virus, from the details you've given us. I think that is the most likely cause. rebooting is a very bad side effect of a virus or trojan.
ok then i will try winamp again. But if it still aint working, then there we go!
